Sindri Unit is located about 20 kms away from the district headquarters of Dhanbad district of Jharkhand State. This is the first fertilizer unit in India. Later on it was modernised in the year 1974. All old plants have been stopped on 16.3.2002.
After a series of CCEA decisions in August 2011, May 2013 regarding revival of FCIL, the Cabinet decided on 21.5.2015 revival of Sindri Unit through ‘bidding route’ for setting up a 1.3 million MT Urea on 500-600 acres of land.
PDIL has been engaged for identification of 500-600 acres of land for the project, as approved by CCEA.
An Empowered Committee has been constituted to oversee the revival process of Sindri Unit of FCIL.
M/s. Deloitte are Project Advisors for assisting FCIL and DoF for revival.
